I felt it would be inappropriate to use the face of a Ukrainian boy or a child in a current conflict, without permission. But I also felt it important to be based on a real image of a child who had experienced air raids, survival, displacement and fear.

This image was inspired by a photograph taken in the Blitz, in London,WW2. The destruction echos the war torn landscapes of Europe and countries beyond, in both the 20th and 21st Century conflicts.
